Jakarta (ANTARA) - The family of the late young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Arya Daru Pangayunan, has filed a protection request with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) after experiencing a number of irregularities.

"It is true that six people have requested protection from the family of the late diplomat," said LPSK Deputy Chair Susilaningtias in Jakarta on Thursday.

She said the request, submitted by Pangayunan's family, was submitted to the LPSK at the end of August 2025 and is currently in the file verification stage.

"We are still verifying the files and conducting an administrative review," she said.

She believes the protection request submitted by the family of the young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not without reason, as the family reported a number of irregularities.

They claimed to have received strange symbols in the form of corks shaped like stars, hearts, and even frangipani flowers during a religious study.

"The LPSK also reported the irregularities, regarding someone sending messages using symbols they didn't understand," she said.

Furthermore, the family stated that the flowers on the deceased's grave were allegedly replaced by an unknown party.

"For more in-depth information, it would be best to consult his legal counsel. However, what has been conveyed to the LPSK is that they hope that LPSK protection will empower the family and their legal counsel to uncover the truth about the death of the deceased," she said.

Previously, a young diplomat from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arya Daru Pangayunan, was found dead with his head wrapped in duct tape in Room 105 of the Gondia Guest House boarding house, Jalan Gondangdia Kecil No. 22, Cikini Village, Menteng District, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 8, at around 8:10 a.m. local time.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate concluded that Pangayunan's death was unrelated. This conclusion was based on an investigation conducted by investigators involving several experts.

The police also did not find any dangerous substances in the toxicology examination of Pangayunan's body, while the National Police Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) stated that there was no DNA or fingerprints other than the victim's at the location where his body was found.
