Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is finalizing an economic stimulus package that will run until the end of 2025, including paid internships for fresh graduates, new tax breaks, and expanded social protection programs, officials said Friday.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the package is being prepared on President Prabowo Subianto’s directive and is being finalized with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

He explained that the internship program for new graduates aims to better match skills with industry needs.

The package also broadens government-borne tax incentives (DTP), extending them beyond labor-intensive industries to sectors such as hospitality, restaurants, and catering.

In addition, the government will extend the current food assistance program for another three months.

Informal workers, including online motorcycle taxi drivers, will be covered under social security schemes for workplace accidents, unemployment, and death benefits. Authorities are also preparing a mechanism to subsidize part of the social security fees.

The stimulus further includes support from the state social security agency, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, for housing programs, ranging from home ownership to renovation, alongside cash-for-work initiatives in transport and housing sectors.

In total, the package will feature eight main programs and four additional initiatives.

It will be reinforced by Government Regulation No. 28 of 2025 on deregulation, set to take effect on Oct. 5, and supported through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said his ministry is committed to ensuring budget flexibility to accelerate the stimulus rollout.

“We ensure good programs and speed up its implementation,” he said.
