Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Health Ministry has allocated Rp9.7 trillion (around US$592 million) from its proposed Rp114 trillion budget for 2026 to implement the government's quick-win health programs.

During a working meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the programs include upgrading facilities in 10 hospitals, eradicating tuberculosis, and rolling out a free health check-up program.

For the tuberculosis program, Sadikin said the ministry aims to ensure an adequate supply of medicine while strengthening promotive and preventive efforts, including expanded case detection and improved treatment success rates.

Meanwhile, the free health check-up program is targeted to reach 130.3 million participants in 2026.

He stressed the ministry's commitment to advancing health transformation to support the quick-win programs as well as the 2026 Government Work Plan (RKP).

Sadikin also noted that the largest portion of the proposed budget — Rp23 trillion — has been allocated to the ministry's Secretariat General, mainly to fund free health insurance and advanced medical services through Public Service Agency (BLU) hospitals.

He asked for DPR's approval of the proposed Rp114 trillion budget.
