Jakarta (ANTARA) -

The Jakarta provincial government said on Wednesday that it plans to open a market in Europe, specifically in Paris, France, in October 2025, aiming to expand the reach of products “Made in Jakarta.”

"God willing, we will open a market in Paris this October to showcase Jakarta-made products,” Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno said at the opening of the 2025 Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism, and Small and Medium Enterprise Expo (JITEX) at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

JITEX 2025 will run until September 21 at Halls A and B of JICC, bringing together investors, traders, and small and medium enterprises to explore business opportunities both locally and internationally.

Karno said that the move follows the discontinuation of the Tong Tong Fair in the Netherlands, which previously served as a gateway for Indonesian cultural and business products in Europe.

“After the Tong Tong Fair, we no longer had access to European markets. That is why we are opening this new market,” he added.

The European market initiative aligns with Jakarta’s vision as a global city and national economic hub under Law Number 2 of 2024.

“According to Law Number 2 of 2024, Jakarta is recognized as both a national economic center and a global city, and we must realize this together,” he said.

JITEX 2025, now in its second year and themed “Jakarta Connecting Future,” is intended to showcase the capital’s commitment to building an inclusive economic growth ecosystem.

Karno set a transaction target of Rp14.9 trillion (approximately $960 million) for the event, surpassing last year’s Rp12.9 trillion (around $830 million).

“The goal is to grow even further by 2027. This exhibition features top local MSME products including culinary items, fashion, electric vehicles, furniture, and other manufactured goods,” he said.
