The Ministry launched this initiative by hosting a workshop titled “Protecting IP Internationally: What Indonesian Creatives Should Know”, held in partnership with the US Embassy in Jakarta on Thursday.
“This marks a strategic step in Indonesia-US cooperation to support the growth of an IP ecosystem for the creative industry,” Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky said.
The workshop gathered 30 selected participants, including digital content creators, IP regulators, and legal consultants from the creative sector.
Riefky said he hopes the dialogue will promote exchange of insights and strengthen understanding of IP’s role in advancing Indonesia’s creative economy.
Jason P. Rebholz, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the US Embassy, welcomed the collaboration, calling it a foundation for long-term cooperation.

“We’re honored to support this important dialogue. Creative ideas can only thrive globally when protected by transparent and reliable IP systems,” he said.
Rebholz noted that strong IP protection encourages innovation, helps scale businesses, and creates jobs by giving creators the confidence to invest in new ideas.
“The key is prevention through consistent law enforcement—both online and offline—and practical cooperation between governments, platforms, and rights holders,” he added.
He said ongoing collaboration in training, licensing, and best practices would help bring Indonesian stories to international audiences while introducing US expertise to Indonesian creators.
The workshop is the first joint initiative between the Ministry and the US Embassy. Follow-up events will include a workshop at the embassy, a talk show, and a public discussion at Jakarta’s Pacific Place.
Officials say the series could be a turning point in enhancing Indonesia’s global presence in the creative economy.
