“This decision went through a process of review at echelon 2 and echelon 1 levels before being finalized. The total number of national holidays for 2026 is 17 days,” Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno explained here on Friday.
The 17 designated national holidays for 2026 are as follows:
- Thursday, January 1 – New Year’s Day
- Friday, January 16 – Isra and Mi’raj of Prophet Muhammad
- Tuesday, February 17 – Chinese New Year 2577
- Thursday, March 19 – Nyepi (Balinese Day of Silence)
- Saturday, March 21 – Eid al-Fitr 1477 H
- Sunday, March 22 – Eid al-Fitr 1477 H
- Friday, April 3 – Good Friday
- Sunday, April 5 – Easter Sunday
- Friday, May 1 – International Labor Day
- Thursday, May 14 – Ascension of Jesus Christ
- Wednesday, May 27 – Eid al-Adha 1447 H
- Sunday, May 31 – Vesak Day 2570 BE
- Monday, June 1 – Pancasila Day
- Tuesday, June 16 – Islamic New Year 1448 H
- Monday, August 17 – Independence Day
- Tuesday, August 25 – Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday
- Friday, December 25 – Christmas Day
“A Presidential Decree will be issued for collective leave for ASN,” Widyantini said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar noted that the distribution of national holidays was balanced across religious groups.
“It is very fair. Islam receives five holidays, Christianity four, Hinduism one, Buddhism one, and Confucianism one. Hopefully, all communities can enjoy (the holidays),” he remarked.
