Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration has deported a United States (US) citizen who abused her stay permit by hosting an intimacy retreat in Bali.

The woman, identified as JRG (44), was arrested by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team on September 16 while attempting to fly to Jakarta via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. She was deported on Thursday (September 18).

“Every foreigner in Indonesia must comply with immigration regulations and respect applicable legal norms. We will take firm action against anyone who abuses their stay permit,” said Winarko, Head of the Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office, on Friday.

The case began with public reports about JRG’s activities in the Seminyak area. Immigration officers followed up with field surveillance and cyber monitoring.

Evidence showed that JRG held an “Intimacy Mastery Retreat” from September 4–8, 2025, at a villa in Seminyak. The paid class, attended by participants from several countries, offered lessons on intimate relationships, emotional closeness, and sexual activity.

JRG arrived in Bali on September 4, 2025, using a visa on arrival (VoA) valid until October 4. She violated the terms of her stay permit by conducting unauthorized commercial activities.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that JRG violated Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.

She was therefore subject to administrative immigration action in the form of deportation and a travel ban.

“The deportation was carried out on September 18, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. local time, using EVA Air on the Denpasar–Taipei–Los Angeles route,” Winarko added.
