Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has ensured reliable digital connectivity in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions to support the smooth implementation of the national social assistance digitalization program.

Digital access is being facilitated through telecommunications services managed by the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) under the Ministry. Some facilities that support the connectivity include both Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and the SATRIA-1 satellite.

“BTS and SATRIA-1 under BAKTI are being utilized to support connectivity for social aid digitalization. Many areas are still blank spots not covered by telecommunication operators. These are the areas the Ministry supports,” the ministry's Secretary-General Ismail said here on Friday.

As of June 2024, BAKTI has built and operated 6,663 4G BTS towers in regions not yet served by telecom providers.

In addition, the BAKTI Internet Access (AKSI) program is providing public digital connectivity services at 18,697 locations, including 8,836 schools, 5,182 government offices, 2,606 healthcare facilities, 743 community centers, and 674 places of worship.

Moreover, 322 defense and security posts, 139 tourism sites, 120 main service points, and 75 public transport areas in the 3T regions are covered by the AKSI program.

By October 2024, SATRIA-1 has also connected 18,501 3T locations not covered by BTS infrastructure.

According to Ismail, the ministry's digital connectivity support for social aid digitalization efforts is important to realize the success of the Red and White Cabinet’s priority programs.

Beyond connectivity, the ministry is also providing data center infrastructure to align and manage data of assistance beneficiaries, to ensure targeted distribution.

“This data center allows ministries and agencies to store, process, and secure their data through Komdigi,” Ismail explained.
