However, the minister has yet to confirm the timing of the anticipated meeting between Prabowo and Trump, which is expected to take place on the sidelines of Prabowo's visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
"We have not received any scheduling information for the meeting," Sugiono told a presser at Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield here on Friday evening (September 19) before Prabowo's departure on his latest world tour.
President Prabowo Subianto will have a stopover in Japan's Osaka to visit the Indonesian Pavilion at Osaka Expo before arriving in New York for the UNGA.
He will be the third leader to present his remarks at the UNGA General Debate Session on September 23, 2025, after Brazil and the US.
The occasion means that Prabowo and Trump will be at the same location during the day, opening the possibility for an encounter between the two leaders.
Last July, President Prabowo stated that his US counterpart planned to meet him in September or October 2025.
"He said (the meeting) may take place next September or October," the president said upon arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield on July 16 after his overseas visit to six countries, including Brazil and France.
Prabowo also quipped that he was afraid that Trump might invite him to play golf during their meeting. "My golf is bad, I need to take golf lessons. I was once good at golf, but now I have lost it," he said.
