Jakarta (ANTARA) -

Indonesia will announce fresh humanitarian assistance for Palestine during President Prabowo Subianto’s upcoming address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Anis Matta said on Friday.

“I think one of the points will be that the President will declare another round of Indonesian assistance for Palestine in his speech at the UN,” Matta told reporters in Jakarta.

He made the statement on the sidelines of the opening of the Arts Lumiere Indonesia Festival (ALIF): Muslim World Movie Screening 2025, organized by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Matta did not provide details on the scale or form of the assistance package but confirmed that Prabowo would place Palestine’s independence as one of the central themes of his remarks.

“Of course, the President will also highlight broader global issues,” he added.

Prabowo is scheduled to deliver Indonesia’s national statement at the General Debate of the 79th UNGA in New York on Sept. 23, 2025.

The ministry’s Director General for Multilateral Cooperation, Tri Tharyat, said the address would cover pressing international challenges.

“What will stand out are today’s global dynamics, including the recent attack on the sovereign state of Qatar, and certainly the Palestine issue,” he told a media briefing on Thursday.

Indonesia has intensified its humanitarian support for Palestinians. Between Aug. 17 and 28, the military’s Red and White Task Force carried out multiple airdrops of emergency supplies into Gaza.

Air Force Chief of Staff Air Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono said more than 90 tonnes of aid had been delivered.

“In total, 91.4 tonnes of assistance were dropped in 520 bundles over Gaza,” he said after the task force returned to Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Sept. 13.

Prabowo has repeatedly underscored Indonesia’s support for Palestinian statehood, describing it as a cornerstone of Jakarta’s foreign policy and its commitment to international peace and justice.
