Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) implements the AI Talent Factory program to develop innovative digital talents capable of harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address national challenges.

Head of the Komdigi Human Resource Development Agency, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, stated that the program aims to produce talents who are not only proficient in AI but also capable of driving innovation.

“AI Talent Factory is not just about producing beginner or intermediate talents, but also advanced-level experts ready to tackle the nation’s complex issues,” Pudjianto remarked in the ministry's release received here on Saturday.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, expressed optimism in Indonesia’s ability to produce globally competitive AI talents. He encouraged local AI developers to utilize Indonesia’s linguistic and local wisdom in creating AI applications.

“It would be great if we could develop our own Large Language Models (LLMs) using our own languages. Our regional languages are rich, our ethnic groups are diverse, and our cultural heritage is extraordinary," he expounded.

Patria also stressed the need to enhance the capacity of Indonesia’s digital talents, so they are not merely users of technology but also capable of developing it to serve the public interest.

“We need around nine million digital talents, but we must think beyond users, we need talents who can be both deployers and developers,” he added.

According to previous reports, there are currently 9.3 million digital talents in Indonesia, while the demand for digital talents is projected to reach 12 million by 2030.

Therefore, AI talent development is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s national development agenda, aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure.
