Head of Kejati Banten, Siswanto, said the program reflects the prosecutor’s commitment to raising legal awareness among village officials and local communities.
“This program aims to prevent irregularities in the management of Village Funds,” he said in a statement in Serang City on Sunday.
Siswanto attended a Jaga Desa event held in the Badui area of Lebak District on Saturday, September 20.
He noted that the program not only addresses financial governance but also the protection of customary land rights of the Badui people, with the goal of enabling future land certification.
“It is also important to encourage a new paradigm that recognizes customary law, especially with the new Criminal Code set to take effect in January 2026,” Siswanto said.
The Banten Prosecutor’s Office also provides guidance on Civil and State Administrative Law, particularly in legal services, assistance, and solutions to village-level issues. These efforts are expected to minimize errors in village governance.
Responding to residents’ concerns over the accountability of village funds, Siswanto stressed that management must be improved to become more effective and accountable. “This way it will truly bring benefits to improving the welfare of rural communities,” he emphasized.
As part of strengthening the program, Kejati Banten introduced a digital application designed for supervision, assistance, and safeguarding of Village Funds. The app allows village heads to seek legal consultation and resolve problems at the village level.
“This application can also be accessed by the district head, regional secretary, and the Village Community Empowerment Office for monitoring, ensuring that the management of Village Funds is transparent and accountable,” Siswanto explained.
He added that the implementation of Jaga Desa is expected to foster strong synergy between law enforcement, local governments, and village communities.
“Our goal is to establish clean and transparent Village Fund governance without neglecting the identity and original culture of local communities,” Siswanto concluded.
The Jaga Desa Program is an initiative by the Attorney General’s Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT).
The program aims to oversee and monitor the use of village funds to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper allocation.
Beyond financial oversight, Jaga Desa also seeks to empower villages, prevent legal violations, and raise legal awareness among rural communities.
These efforts are carried out through a digital application, direct assistance, and public outreach programs.
