"North Penajam Paser District is the origin, closest, and partner of the IKN," Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono said when asked about the development of the new capital city in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser on Sunday.
According to him, the North Penajam Paser District Government can propose development projects that support the IKN's buffer zone.
"The IKN Authority's ongoing commitments include the revitalization of Sepaku Market, which is underway this year," he explained.
Hadimuljono added that the market's revitalization can be achieved through the IKN Authority's collaboration with the North Penajam Paser District Government and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government.
The IKN Authority will also implement the construction of the Sotek-Bongan Road, which will connect North Penajam Paser District with West Kutai District.
Meanwhile, North Penajam Paser District Head, Mudyat Noor stated that as the main buffer zone for the new capital, the region needs to align its development programs with the new capital.
"This is to prevent district development programs and activities that conflict with the new capital development plan," he added.
Development alignment is necessary in terms of infrastructure development, public services, education, and regional spatial planning, Noor said.
