Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) recorded 6,402 findings of online content containing radicalism and terrorism between January 1 and August 26, 2025.

During a media visit to the Antara Heritage Center in Jakarta on Monday, BNPT Head Commissioner General Eddy Hartono said the findings were spread across various online platforms.

"Even though some were old, they continue to be reposted," Hartono said.

He explained that the Counter-Radicalization Task Force will coordinate with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) to consider shutting down accounts or removing content.

The measure is expected to curb the spread of radical and terrorist ideologies online, preventing them from influencing the younger generation and the wider public.

Hartono said the findings included 4,863 propaganda content, 424 related to funding, 30 linked to logistics providers, 817 to attack execution, 108 to recruitment, 73 to training, 24 to planning, 33 to hiding, and 30 to paramilitary activity.

Based on the platforms, BNPT recorded content on 23 TikTok accounts, 394 WhatsApp accounts or groups, 93 Telegram accounts or groups, 222 Instagram accounts, 433 online media, 159 Twitter (X) accounts, four YouTube accounts, and 5,074 Facebook accounts.

"We monitor all of them around the clock," he said.

Hartono added that BNPT continues to intensify its counter-radicalization program in cyberspace through planned, integrated, systematic, and sustainable efforts aimed at halting the spread of radical and terrorist ideologies.

These efforts focus on strengthening individuals and groups to be more resilient to radical influences and countering the spread of extremist ideologies through legal, psychological, religious, economic, educational, humanitarian, and socio-cultural approaches.

BNPT’s counter-radicalization measures also include counter-ideology, counter-narratives, and counter-propaganda.
