Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) will focus on strengthening its early detection system next year to prevent and address acts of terrorism.

During a hearing with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) on July 9, 2025, head of the BNPT, Commissioner General Eddy Hartono, affirmed his agency’s commitment to boosting early detection through collaboration with ministries/institutions and the community.

“We will focus on strengthening the early detection system,” he confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He added that the agency has designed four priority activities (KP) to ramp up early detection.

The activities are building coordination and synergy between defense and security instruments to prevent and address acts of terrorism, stepping up counter-radicalization efforts, bolstering terrorism deradicalization, and strengthening the Analysis and Crisis Control Center (Pusdalsis).

He also emphasized that the BNPT will play a vital role in ensuring national security, which is needed to realize the 2026 Government Work Plan (RKP), which aims to build food and energy sovereignty and a productive and inclusive economy.

He said that the BNPT is playing an important role in building national security, which is a prerequisite for national development and key for realizing the 2026 RKP.

Meanwhile, Sugiat Santoso, deputy chairperson of Commission XIII of the DPR, commended the BNPT’s performance and expressed the hope that the deradicalization program would be improved.

“We appreciate the BNPT’s performance, but deradicalization of thought needs to be enhanced through collaboration in prevention programs within the community,” he said.

Another Commission XIII member, Prana Putra Sohe, echoed this sentiment, stressing that the BNPT must participate in joint efforts to maintain national stability.

“I express my appreciation to Mr. Hartono and his staff. During his tenure, nothing has happened that we did not expect. National stability must be maintained; this is a national strategic program,” Sohe said.
