“Peace can only come if everyone acknowledges, respects, and guarantees Israel’s security,” Prabowo told reporters in New York.
“Israel’s security must be guaranteed first before we can achieve peace,” he added.
The president made the remarks in response to reactions from world leaders to Indonesia’s position on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He said many considered Jakarta’s stance realistic and balanced.
“There were many positive responses because we are seen as realistic, we are seen as balanced,” Prabowo said.
In his debut address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s backing for a two-state solution, insisting that Palestinian independence and Israel’s security must go hand in hand.

“We must have an independent Palestine, but we must also recognize, respect, and guarantee Israel’s safety and security. Only then can we have true peace, without hatred and suspicion. The only solution is the two-state solution,” he told the assembly.
Prabowo also warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging the international community not to ignore the suffering of civilians.
“Millions are facing trauma, hunger, and even the threat of death right in front of the international community,” he said.
Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, has long supported Palestinian statehood and traditionally voiced strong criticism of Israel.
The president’s remarks came during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, where leaders from more than 190 countries are meeting to debate global conflicts, climate change and development challenges.
