“The deployment of TNI troops to new conflict zones like Gaza or Ukraine must follow UN mechanisms and receive authorization from the Indonesian government. Once we receive the mandate, we are ready to go,” said Head of the TNI Information Center Major General Freddy Ardianzah on Friday.
His statement was made in response to President Prabowo Subianto’s address at the UN General Assembly, in which he reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to global peace through various means, including the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
According to Ardianzah, Indonesia has a long-standing history of contributing peacekeeping troops under UN missions.
Regular destinations for Indonesian forces include Lebanon and several regions in Africa.
The TNI has also delivered food and logistical aid to Gaza on multiple occasions using airdrop operations conducted by Indonesian Air Force Hercules aircraft.
Given this extensive experience, Ardianzah expressed confidence in the TNI’s ability to support President Prabowo’s vision of advancing global peace.
At the 80th United Nations General Assembly, held on September 23 in New York, President Prabowo was honored as the third speaker, following Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and U.S. President Donald Trump.
In his speech, Prabowo declared Indonesia’s readiness to contribute more significantly to global peace, including the potential deployment of up to 20,000 personnel for UN peacekeeping missions.
His address at the UN’s highest forum served as a key moment for Indonesia to reaffirm its role as an active and forward-looking nation in tackling global challenges—from security and food resilience to energy, climate change, and peacebuilding.
The President also took part in the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
During his remarks, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestinian independence and voiced deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
He condemned violence against civilians—particularly women and children—as well as the threat of famine and the broader humanitarian catastrophe.
