"We believe that with the synergy of the government, industries, and businesses, as well as the community, we can create inclusive employment," the ministry's Director of Special Workforce Placement Development, Anggun Sintana, said in a press briefing here on Friday.
To achieve the goal, there are several measures prepared by the ministry, including disseminating information to companies regarding Law Number 6 of 2018, which mandates companies to ensure at least 1 percent of their workforce are people with disabilities.
In the aspect of institutional and supervisory strengthening, the Ministry of Manpower established the Directorate of Special Workforce Placement to design programs and policies related to people with disabilities.
"These include social protection for people with disabilities and annual monitoring and evaluation of companies and government institutions' compliance," she said.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Manpower is also transforming the Disability Service Units (ULDs) by improving the capacity of human resources through special training programs and digitalization of ULD services to support them in being more responsive and connected to the national manpower system.
Apart from that, Sintana affirmed that her ministry is paying special attention to enhancing the readiness of people with disabilities to work in accordance with industry needs.
In this regard, some of the efforts made are integrating job training for people with disabilities into job training centers (BLKs) with an adaptive training scheme and providing a curriculum that is based on inclusive competencies, including digital and entrepreneurship skills.
"In addition, they include involving organizations of people with disabilities in designing the curriculum and training, as well as forging social partnerships and carrying out public campaigns," she added.
