We hope RS KEI can serve as a referral hub, a center of innovation, and a model of international collaboration.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono stated that the Emirates–Indonesia Cardiology Hospital (RS KEI) marks an important milestone in national cardiovascular care by expediting access to treatment.

Harbuwono confirmed here on Tuesday that the hospital, built in Solo Techno Park, Surakarta, Central Java, symbolizes the strong healthcare partnership between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

He noted that cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide. According to WHO’s 2022 data, more than 19 million deaths are caused by heart attacks and strokes.

Meanwhile, the 2023 National Health Survey (SKI) reported that the prevalence of heart disease in Indonesia is 8.5 per 1,000 people, with nearly 300,000 deaths annually.

“With RS KEI, the government expects improved access to modern cardiovascular care, a reduction in fatality rates, and strengthened education and research capacity for our medical personnel,” Harbuwono said.

As a center of excellence, the hospital has 100 inpatient beds, with plans to increase to 130.

It also features a heart care polyclinic, catheterization laboratory, ICU/ICVCU, and other modern facilities.

Yogyakarta’s Sardjito National Hospital has trained specialists—from doctors to nurses—to ensure RS KEI delivers high-quality care from its launch on October 6. Harbuwono projected that RS KEI could become one of Asia’s leading cardiovascular care centers.

“We hope RS KEI can serve as a referral hub, a center of innovation, and a model of international collaboration. Let’s make this hospital a center for public cardiovascular care and a tangible contribution to a healthy, golden Indonesia by 2045,” he remarked.

Sardjito National Hospital has been designated as the hospital’s manager.

In a separate statement, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Aldhaheri commended Indonesia for this collaboration.

He noted that the hospital’s architectural and landscape design combines Emirati and Indonesian elements, reflecting the close bilateral partnership.

Beyond its modern cardiovascular facilities, the hospital is also equipped with a recreational area and fitness center to support patient recovery.

Aldhaheri expressed hope that the hospital would provide world-class treatment and save many lives.
