Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology has expressed its commitment to supporting university-based research aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s national medical industry.

“Health research products can essentially be developed across various disciplines. Materials research in the aerospace or automotive sectors, for example, can be adapted to produce innovations relevant to medical needs,” said Director General of Research and Development at the ministry, Fauzan Adziman, in a statement here on Thursday.

He noted that this support is being provided because the interconnectedness of science and technology creates broad opportunities for innovation.

“The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology has prepared strategic programs and funding schemes to strengthen the science and technology ecosystem, particularly in the health sector, which has a tangible impact on society,” he added.

Adziman underlined that developing human resources remains a key factor in building a competitive and sustainable national health industry.
