“It is time for all of us to rise and develop NTT as a powerhouse of the creative economy. In fact, we hope this region will emerge as the nation’s capital of the creative economy,” he noted in a statement cited here on Thursday.
The minister highlighted Indonesia's vast creative economic potential during the inauguration of a Christian Evangelical Church in Timor (GMIT) building in Kupang City, NTT. He called on the people to help Indonesia fully tap into its creative economic strength in hopes of boosting national economic growth, citing several countries known for successfully leveraging the sector.
"Various countries, including Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea, have proven that the creative economy can give a boost their economic standing," Iskandar stressed.
In this regard, he underscored the significant contribution of creative economic micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to Indonesia's gross domestic product.
Highlighting NTT's potential, the minister encouraged local churches to contribute to the government’s efforts in empowering communities.
"Let there be intensive collaboration on community empowerment between the GMIT and government," he remarked, underlining the need to foster an enabling ecosystem for creative economy growth.
