Bantul, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and empowering former transmigrants relocated to Karangtengah, Bantul, Yogyakarta, following past social conflicts in Aceh, Central Kalimantan, and Papua.

Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi, who visited the site on Saturday, said the resettlement program had successfully provided security and stability for affected families.

"The empowerment process has been carried out, and we are glad to see that they are now living safely, comfortably, and happily," Yoga said.

He stressed that the Ministry of Transmigration, together with local governments, will continue to monitor and assist relocated families, especially those originally from Aceh, to ensure they secure a better future.

Most of the resettled families, he added, have now found peace and stability in Karangtengah, with previous trauma from social unrest subsiding.

"Under President Prabowo's administration, political stability and security are guaranteed across the country. The people also hope for continued government support," he said.

The government also plans to continue cultural empowerment programs and renovate arts facilities and infrastructure built in 2012.
