Speaking at the TNI’s 80th anniversary ceremony in Jakarta, he stressed the importance of adapting to the digital era, including cybersecurity and AI, and urged personnel to keep learning and training.
“If any organizational structures are outdated, they must be replaced with ones better suited to serve the nation’s interests,” Prabowo said, acting as the ceremony’s inspector.
The 80th anniversary celebration featured a flypast of fighter jets bearing the Indonesian national flag, the Defense Ministry flag, and the flags of the three military branches. Aerial acrobatics with red-and-white smoke trails lit up the Jakarta sky, accompanied by a military academy drum band and thousands of marching troops.
According to Major General (Marine) Freddy Ardianzah, Chief of the TNI Headquarters Information Center, a total of 1,047 defense systems were showcased, including tactical vehicles, artillery units, helicopters, fighter jets, and transport aircraft.
Approximately 133,480 personnel participated in the ceremony, comprising military and civilian contingents, combat simulation units, paratroopers, pilots, parade crews, and security forces.
Commemorating eight decades of the Indonesian Armed Forces, this year’s celebration carried a central message from President Prabowo: Indonesia’s defense capabilities must evolve in step with scientific progress to ensure the TNI remains the steadfast guardian of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
“The TNI is the backbone of Indonesia’s defense and the guarantor of our sovereignty,” he affirmed.
