Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) General Tandyo Budi Revita stated that this year’s 80th TNI Anniversary celebrations will be evaluated following the deaths of two soldiers during the event series.

“We will evaluate the TNI Anniversary celebration,” Revita said at the National Defense Central Hospital (RSPPN) in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday.

He did not elaborate on the specific aspects to be reviewed but emphasized that the evaluation aims to ensure future celebrations proceed safely and without casualties.

The first fatal incident occurred on Thursday (October 2) during a naval sailing pass parade in Jakarta Bay. Marine Chief Private Zaenal Mutaqim died after a parachuting accident during a combat simulation exercise.

A few days later, on Saturday (October 4), a soldier from the Army’s Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad), First Private Johari Alfarizi, also died after falling from an Army tank.

Kostrad Commander Lieutenant General Mohamad Fadjar stated that Alfarizi was on top of a tank being transported by a carrier vehicle.

The tank was being moved for the main event of the TNI Anniversary celebration, held at the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta on Sunday (October 5).

During the relocation process, Alfarizi fell from the top of the tank near the Monas area from a height of around four meters, sustaining multiple injuries and broken bones.

He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment but died en route. Fadjar confirmed on Monday that his body had been taken to Southeast Aceh and was buried with military honors.
