Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commander of the Army's Strategic and Reserve Command (Pangkostrad), Lieutenant General Mohammad Fadjar, confirmed that one of his soldiers died in an accident.

The incident occurred during preparations for the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) at the National Monument (Monas) on Saturday.

"His body was transported to Southeast Aceh Regency last night and will be buried with military honors today," Fadjar said in Jakarta on Monday.

He explained that the deceased soldier was Private First Class Johari Alfarizi.

According to Pangkostrad, at the time of the accident, Alfarizi was on top of a tank that was being moved for the TNI anniversary celebrations at Monas in Jakarta on Sunday.

During the process, Alfarizi fell from the tank, from a height of approximately four meters, suffering multiple injuries and broken bones. He was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment but died en route.

On behalf of himself and his unit, Pangkostrad expressed his condolences for the loss of Alfarizi.

"Compensation has been provided by the TNI Commander, Kostrad Commander, and his unit commander," he said.

Fadjar added that Alfarizi's service and dedication will always be remembered, and he will be buried with a military ceremony.
