Putri, on that occasion, checked the prices of some basic commodities including rice, garlic, shallots, cooking oil, and eggs.
She also emphasized the importance of maintaining market stability and ensuring sufficient stocks of essential commodities needed by the community.
“My visit aims to ensure that the public does not face sudden price hikes and to see the market conditions directly. The primary focus is the revitalization of the market, both in physical infrastructure and operational systems,” she said.
Based on her monitoring, several staple prices remained relatively stable. Subsidized rice brand (SPHP) was priced at Rp62,500 per 5 kilograms, adhering to the government’s maximum retail price (HET), while premium rice sold at Rp150 thousand per 10 kilograms.
Packaged cooking oil under the Minyakita brand was available at Rp15,500 per liter, slightly below the government’s HET of Rp15,700. Cayenne pepper was priced at Rp35 thousand per kg.
In addition to price checks, she also checked the market’s physical condition, including cleanliness, accessibility of kiosks, and the overall layout, especially inside the market area.
She encouraged the transformation of Baruga Market toward digitalization.
According to her, the implementation of digital payment and marketing systems in the market is expected to expand access for traders and consumers as well as adapt to technological developments.
“We are encouraging how markets can transform to go digital,” she added.
During the visit, she also bought two kilograms of red chili from a trader there.
