Speaking at the recent "Global Dialogue: Participation and Inclusion" in Spain, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Rini Widyantini said Indonesia has been accelerating its digital transformation by building a national digital architecture that enables data transfers and transaction payments.
"For a country as vast and diverse as Indonesia, pursuing coherence equals realizing equality. The government is determined to make progress, sparing citizens cumbersome bureaucracy," Widyantini said in a statement cited on Friday.
She told international delegates that under President Prabowo Subianto's leadership, the government is committed to integrating a wide range of services into a one-stop digital system to enhance accessibility for all residents.
To achieve this, Indonesia is rallying ministries and regional governments behind a unified push for digitalization, she said.
Widyantini cited a pilot project in Banyuwangi, East Java, where more than 300,000 residents have registered for social protection services using verified digital ID cards. Aid funds under the program are transferred directly to recipients' bank accounts.
The minister said the digitized social affairs program demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving aid accuracy and streamlining bureaucracy.
She added that the government aims to build public trust by listening and responding to citizens, with the goal of realizing better governance through collaboration.
"This creative, collaborative mindset will define our future. We aim to actualize the Government 5.0 movement, shifting from governing for the people to governing alongside the people," Widyantini said.
She noted that while technology brings speed and convenience, openness remains vital to building public trust. The government's commitment to inclusive participation, she said, is essential to fostering a humane and democratic society.
"This story illustrates how openness and public participation can bridge the gap between citizens and the state," she remarked.
