Indrajaya, a member of the House of Representatives' Commission II, said the initiative would help coordinate and expedite efforts to boost welfare and equality across Papua.
"This committee is expected to serve as a platform for formulating people-oriented policies and fast-tracking equitable development," he said in a press release on Saturday.
He expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated body would strengthen the central government's presence in the six Papuan provinces — Papua, West Papua, Southwest Papua, Highland Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua.
According to Indrajaya, the committee will ensure that development programs bring tangible benefits to local communities while advancing Prabowo's Asta Cita missions on political, economic, and infrastructure improvements.
"It is crucial to focus on developing human resources in Papua, particularly through education and health, as these are the main foundations of progress," he said.
The lawmaker, elected from the South Papua constituency, stressed that close collaboration among ministries and agencies is vital to accelerate development in the region.
"I'm convinced that through strong cooperation and shared commitment between the central and regional governments, we can bring real progress to Papua," he said.
On October 8, Prabowo inaugurated the committee and its 10 members, appointing Velix Vernando Wanggai as chairman.
Wanggai said the president's decision reflected his deep concern for Papua's development and his commitment to integrated management of the region.
"Mr. President is firmly committed to managing Papua in a comprehensive and coordinated manner," he told reporters, emphasizing the need for synergy among the central and regional governments and the private sector.
He added that the committee is responsible for monitoring the implementation of Asta Cita within the context of Papua's development.
