“Indonesian woodball athletes are fully prepared to win there. We’re optimistic it will be a major contributor to our gold medal tally,” said Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2025 SEA Games Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono here on Monday.
Observing the national woodball team’s training in Tangerang, Banten, he noted that 23 athletes will represent Indonesia in woodball at this year’s SEA Games.
As part of their preparations, the athletes will compete in the Hong Kong International Woodball Championship from October 17 to 20, 2025, ahead of the regional multi-sport event.
Chairperson of the Indonesian Woodball Association, Aang Sunadji, affirmed the team’s readiness to pursue a full sweep of gold medals, in line with the CdM’s directive.
He added that the team’s global-level accomplishments have significantly boosted their confidence heading into the SEA Games.
Previously, the Indonesia's national team emerged as overall champion at the 13th Asian Cup Woodball Championship 2025 in Bogor, West Java, last August, securing 12 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
The team also claimed three gold and two silver medals at the 9th World Cup Woodball Championship 2024 in China, and earned 12 medals—including four gold—at the 4th World Cup Beach Woodball 2025 in Thailand.
The 2025 SEA Games will take place in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla, Thailand, from December 9 to 20.
This year marks woodball’s debut at the SEA Games, with six events to be contested: men’s single stroke, women’s single stroke, men’s team stroke, women’s team stroke, men’s team fairway, and women’s team fairway.
