Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa expressed optimism that housing demand will grow rapidly in line with Indonesia’s improving economic conditions.

“When the economy performs well, demand will surge,” he said at the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) office here on Tuesday.

He emphasized that as the economy continues to strengthen, people will be more confident to invest in the property sector.

“There is no need to worry; housing demand will rise quickly,” he added.

Purbaya arrived at the PKP office around 5:10 p.m. local time, where he was welcomed by Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, Secretary General Didyk Choiroel, Inspector General Heri Jerman, BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, and several other ministry officials.

During his visit, he also took time to pose for photos with staff.

Earlier, Purbaya held a meeting with investors from the banking and capital market sectors. During the discussion, he reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating Indonesia’s economic growth.

“They wanted to understand my policy direction going forward to ensure we can achieve faster economic growth,” he said.

According to Purbaya, investors highlighted the need to improve Indonesia’s investment climate.

He pledged to take concrete steps, including forming a development acceleration task force with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

He explained that the team will work swiftly to address investment barriers and strengthen market confidence.

In addition, Purbaya plans to open a direct communication channel for business players to submit complaints or policy concerns.

“I will dedicate one day each week to resolving business-related issues reported to me,” he said.

These measures, Purbaya added, are part of the government’s broader strategy to promote inclusive economic growth, strengthen public purchasing power, and stimulate demand in the housing sector.
