The cooperation was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"Our children must learn directly from nature so that they grow up to be a generation that loves the environment and safeguards its sustainability," Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti said here.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Suharti explained that the MoU is a result of intensive discussions between the two ministries.
The cooperation covers human resources capacity building, the development of teaching materials that support forest conservation, and substantial support for strengthening the curriculum, especially in forestry vocational high schools.
She noted that the two ministries will prepare a cooperation plan and carry out routine monitoring and evaluation to ensure their cooperation is running effectively and provides real benefits to students, schools, and the general public.
On the same occasion, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni expressed appreciation for the collaboration, which, according to him, is a key momentum to bolster vocational high schools, especially forestry high schools, to create excellent graduates who can contribute to national forestry.
According to him, there are five public forestry vocational high schools and 30 private forestry vocational high schools across the country that are expected to get direct benefits from the cooperation.
For the implementation, Minister Mu'ti underscored the importance of not adding to the curriculum load with new subjects. Instead, materials on forest and biodiversity conservation can be integrated through various forms, including reading materials.
