Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy has explored potential collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), aiming to strengthen creative industry ties—particularly through business matchmaking in the music sector.

The discussion took place during a meeting between the two parties in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“We want to emphasize that collaboration with KOCCA should develop into a continuous partnership that enhances business matchmaking between Indonesia and Korea’s creative industries,” Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said in a statement here on Wednesday.

Umar expressed hope that the partnership would open new opportunities and strengthen the overall creative industry ecosystem.

She noted that music is among Indonesia’s seven priority subsectors within the creative economy and holds strong potential, especially through concert activities.

“We aim to create a collaboration that is mutually beneficial and result-oriented, to further boost Indonesia’s creative industry ecosystem,” she added.

At the meeting, Regional Director of KOCCA Indonesia, Lee Gi Haun, voiced optimism that the upcoming K-Life and K-Live concerts—scheduled to take place in Indonesia in early 2026—will stimulate growth in the local creative economy.

He said the concerts serve not only as a tribute to Korean music fans in Indonesia but also as a platform for business engagement between Korean and Indonesian companies.

Lee added that collaboration opportunities extend beyond music and character-based intellectual property to include the cosmetics and food sectors as well.

KOCCA, a government agency under South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, oversees and coordinates the nation’s content industries, including music, gaming, animation, and comics.
