"The requests for urgent provisional measures were considered by the Deputy President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division. Both requests have been rejected," the CAS noted in its statement as cited on Wednesday.
The requests were submitted after the Indonesian government denied visas for Israeli gymnasts set to participate in the championships that will be held in the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex.
According to CAS, IGF filed two appeals with requests for urgent provisional measures. The first appeal, which the federation filed on October 10, was against the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
In the appeal, IGF requested FIG to annul its statement "taking note" of the Indonesian government's decision not to issue the visas.
Meanwhile, the second appeal was filed on October 13, 2025, asking CAS to order FIG to take necessary measures to guarantee that Israeli athletes can participate in the championships or to move or cancel the event.
The FIG has said it has no control over visa issuance in Indonesia, and the country's decision to deny visas to Israelis is outside the federation's competence.
On Thursday (October 9), Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra reaffirmed that the government would not grant visas to six Israeli athletes reportedly set to participate in the Jakarta event.
He stated that the decision reflects the government's commitment to supporting Palestine in its struggle for independence. It is also a form of the government’s prudence in responding to pressure from various parties, including religious organizations, at home.
