Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced on Friday that around 44.9 million people have registered for the government’s free health screening program (CKG), with approximately 41.89 million having already undergone screenings.

Sadikin said that with a current screening rate of 600,000 people per day, an additional 30 million participants are expected to join the program over the remaining 10 weeks of 2025.

“To be honest, we might reach around 70 million participants,” he said.

The minister expressed optimism that the appointment of Benjamin Paulus as Deputy Health Minister under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration will help accelerate the screening rate, particularly among companies.

At the same event, Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono highlighted the importance of the CKG program in promoting preventive healthcare. He explained that the initiative helps people understand their health risks and encourages them to adopt healthier lifestyles.

For instance, the program uses the Framingham Score to estimate an individual’s risk of a heart attack within ten years.

He added that the initiative has encouraged more people to visit primary healthcare facilities to monitor their conditions, including cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health indicators.

According to CKG data, the five most common health issues among adults are physical inactivity, dental problems, central obesity, being overweight, and hypertension.

“We want to build a generation unafraid of sweating. By exercising, weight decreases, blood pressure lowers, and blood sugar improves,” Harbuwono said.

The CKG data also revealed that 10.1 percent - or roughly one in ten Indonesians - have diabetes. Of those, only 30 percent are aware of their condition.

“That means 70 percent were previously unaware,” he added.

Harbuwono noted a similar trend with hypertension, where many remain undiagnosed. He urged the media to help the government promote the flagship program to prevent catastrophic diseases such as cardiovascular illness, cancer, and stroke.
