Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transmigration Minister Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that the government continues to accelerate the certification of transmigration lands and is targeting 13,000 land certificates to be completed this year.

“Of the 129 thousand plots that we must complete, 6,600 have been certified this year. That’s not a small number, as it resolves issues that have been pending for 20 to 30 years,” Suryanagara said in Jakarta on Sunday.

He expressed hope that his office can complete around 13,000 plots by the end of the year.

He cited the Rempang area in Batam City, Riau Islands, as an example of progress. The site was selected as a pilot integrated transmigration project aligned with the development of Rempang Eco City, one of Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects (PSN).

According to Suryanagara, residents affected by the Rempang project joined the transmigration program to Tanjung Banon, where they immediately received land certificates - a significant improvement from past practices that often required decades of waiting.

Rempang Eco City is designed to attract large-scale investments, including a silica sand-based glass factory, leveraging the region’s key natural resources.

The transmigration program in the area supports industrial growth while providing proper housing for communities affected by development.

Although acceleration remains a priority, Suryanagara emphasized that all processes must comply with applicable regulations.

He noted that, as a newly established ministry, his office must follow legal procedures before allocating funds and initiating development programs.

“We can’t start any construction without following the regulations. But at least the President has given clear directives,” Suryanagara said.
