Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) is preparing a social impact investment scheme to support local economic development in disaster-affected regions.

BP Taskin Head Budiman Sudjatmiko said on Wednesday that the model has been tested in Cirebon and its surrounding areas, involving the reorganization of 500 hectares of farmland owned by local farmers into an integrated economic ecosystem.

The initiative covers production, warehousing, and distribution processes for agricultural products.

The agency aims to implement the investment model in disaster-hit regions so that recovery efforts not only address short-term losses but also create long-term economic opportunities for local communities.

Sudjatmiko emphasized that the post-disaster recovery paradigm should go beyond infrastructure reconstruction and include the socio-economic rebuilding of affected communities.

As an example, he explained that agricultural areas impacted by disasters could be developed into modern agricultural industrial zones through the establishment of cooperatives, the processing of harvests, and the integration of agricultural and food supply chains.

He added that such an approach would enable affected residents not only to restore their livelihoods but also to become more self-reliant and economically empowered.

Collaboration with ministries, government agencies, and the private sector is considered crucial to ensure that communities suffering from both structural poverty and disaster impacts remain the main focus of the national poverty alleviation agenda.

In this regard, BP Taskin is exploring partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, and other institutions to strengthen economic empowerment efforts in disaster-affected regions.
