"KRI Belati-622 is a realization of TNI-AL’s priority development program, focusing on the modernization and fulfillment of naval main weapon systems," Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali said at the Military Sealift Command headquarters.
The 60-meter fast attack craft highlights naval modernization through its distinctive hybrid engine system. This system combines a water jet and a propeller, which allows the ship to save fuel while maintaining powerful performance.
Admiral Ali noted the vessel was built domestically by Tesco Indomaritim, marking a milestone for Indonesia's defense technology. The move reflects the government’s commitment to self-reliance and strengthening the use of domestically produced equipment.
"TNI-AL is committed to supporting and realizing the government’s program to increase the use of domestic products and to promote the defense industry," Ali explained.
With the commissioning, Ali expressed hope that the TNI-AL's maritime defense capabilities will continue to strengthen in safeguarding the nation’s territorial waters.
The Ministry of Defense handed over the warship to the Navy after its completion. The ship underwent a naming ceremony in Jakarta on October 1.
The KRI Belati-622 will be deployed under the Third Fleet Command (Koarmada III). Its base will be in Sorong, Southwest Papua.
