Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower has issued a reminder to all companies employing foreign workers to strictly adhere to government regulations and procedures regarding the use of expatriate labor.

Head of the ministry’s Public Relations Bureau Sunardi Manampiar Sinaga stated on Monday that obtaining approval of a Foreign Worker Utilization Plan (RPTKA) is a mandatory requirement that must be fulfilled before any foreign national can legally work in Indonesia.

“We also urge workers and members of the public who become aware of the use of foreign workers that does not comply with existing regulations to immediately report it to local labor offices or the Ministry of Manpower for legal enforcement,” Sinaga said in a statement.

He emphasized that active public participation is crucial in monitoring labor practices, including the employment of foreign workers in Indonesia, adding that, "The government greatly needs the support of the wider community."

This reminder follows a significant enforcement action where the ministry expelled 94 foreign nationals working in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Simalungun, North Sumatra, on Wednesday (October 22, 2025) .

The expulsion, which took place at a worksite in Simalungun, was witnessed by local labor officials and management of the Sei Mangkei SEZ.

Acting Director General of Labor Inspection and Occupational Safety and Health (K3) at the ministry Ismail Pakaya confirmed the removal was due to a lack of RPTKA approval.

“The 94 foreign workers were expelled from the Simalungun worksite for failing to obtain RPTKA approval, as mandated by Government Regulation No. 34 of 2021 and Ministerial Regulation No. 8 of 2021 on the employment of foreign workers,” Pakaya stated.
