He made the remarks during the launch of a book titled Quality Education for All: Understanding the Key Ideas of Abdul Mu’ti, published by Kompas Books in Jakarta on Monday evening.
“As one of the ministries entrusted by President Prabowo Subianto to reform the education system—with the long-term goal of shaping national character—we believe that building an advanced and dignified Indonesia must begin with education as its foundation,” Mu’ti stated.
Authored by 16 contributors from diverse backgrounds, the book offers insights and analyses on the importance of setting a new direction for primary and secondary education.
“This book presents studies that examine the policies and ideas guiding our efforts to chart a new course for basic and secondary education, particularly for the 2024–2029 leadership term,” Mu’ti explained.
To achieve quality education, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to seek public input and gather valuable ideas that can be translated into policies aligned with its new educational vision.
“I must admit that not everything I’ve done stems solely from my own thinking. Throughout my tenure as minister, I’ve made it a priority to listen to and absorb various aspirations, which I’ve then translated into policies and strategic directions for the ministry,” he said.
While acknowledging that it is still too early to assess the full impact of education policies within his first year in office, Mu’ti expressed optimism that active participation from all stakeholders would help lay a stronger foundation for the nation’s future learners.
“It’s certainly premature to evaluate the success of any policy after just one year. We still have four years ahead, and in that time, we will work to accelerate progress and address any shortcomings,” he concluded.
