Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is preparing a new generation of ethical, adaptive, and globally competitive leaders through the Indonesia Future Leaders Camp (FLC) 2025 program.

Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto highlighted the need for a strong national leadership regeneration ecosystem to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. He said developing young people’s leadership capacity must start early.

“This forum is one of our initiatives to prepare the nation’s future generation. Student activists—those engaged in campus organizations—have an advantage because they learn early how to manage their time and think beyond their peers,” Brian said in Jakarta on Thursday.

He added that the ability to multitask and stay composed while managing multiple challenges is a key trait of future leaders. This includes balancing academic performance with extracurricular involvement. The FLC program serves as a platform to instill this habit.

“Many activists struggle academically, while high-performing students often avoid activism. Both are essential. Through the FLC, we aim to prepare students early with the right mindset, so they can envision themselves as future leaders,” he said.

The minister stressed that no nation achieves greatness without the ambition and vision of its youth. He cited developed countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, and China, where progress has been driven by younger generations.

Brian emphasized that Indonesia’s future leaders must combine vision with patriotism, raising the Indonesian flag (Merah Putih) to stand on equal footing with developed nations.

“This program aims to awaken and nurture young Indonesians with big dreams, strong vision, and ambition to become true leaders, nationally and globally,” he said.

The Future Leaders Camp is Kemdiktisaintek’s first and most prestigious national leadership forum. It uses experiential learning to strengthen strategic leadership skills among student leaders, including presidents and executive members of Student Executive Boards (BEM) and extracurricular organizations from across Indonesia.

FLC Regional I, held at Bandung Islamic University (Unisba) on Wednesday, Oct. 29, hosted 60 selected participants from Jakarta, West Java, and Banten who passed the administrative selection process.
