Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy opened up cooperation opportunities in the creative economy with countries of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS).

This was discussed during a meeting between Indonesian Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya and the delegation of the OACPS in Jakarta on Thursday.

On that occasion, the minister invited the OACPS to participate in the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026 in Indonesia.

"As a country that initiated WCCE since 2018, we want to continue encouraging meaningful global cooperation in the creative economy sector," he said in an official statement on Friday.

According to him, the presence of the OACPS at WCCE 2026 is expected to open concrete opportunities for sustainable development partnerships.

Thursday's meeting became an initial momentum for strengthening Indonesia's collaboration with OACPS member countries in the creative economy sector.

OACPS was founded via the Georgetown Agreement (1975) and plays an important role in strengthening cross-regional economic cooperation, including the creative sector.

Harsya noted that foreign investment in Indonesia's creative economy has continued to increase, especially in the application, fashion, craft, and food subsectors.

With 79 member countries of the OACPS spanning the African, Caribbean, and Pacific regions, the potential for collaboration is deemed capable of expanding export markets and creating new job opportunities.

Currently, 80 percent of the ministry's focus is on accelerating creative economy development through curation, scaling up businesses, commercializing intellectual property, and global promotion and networking.

In line with the Luanda Declaration (2022) and the Nairobi Declaration (2019), Indonesia also supports the creative economy capacity development of the OACPS member countries through South-South Cooperation and the WCCE.

OACPS Secretary General Moussa Saleh Batraki expressed appreciation for Indonesia's step of establishing a special ministry for the creative economy, namely the Ministry of Creative Economy.

The OACPS delegation also invited the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy to attend the Summit of OACPS Heads of State and Government in 2026.
