Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid inspected the universal postal service of state-run Pos Indonesia in Bali on Sunday to ensure smooth delivery of the government’s expanded Direct Cash Aid (BLT) program.

“We came to the Blahkiuh Post Office to make sure government aid reaches all eligible residents, including those in remote areas,” Hafid said during the visit.

She noted that in October, the government assigned state-owned banks and Pos Indonesia to distribute BLT to 35 million low-income families as part of 17 economic stimulus programs announced on September 15.

President Prabowo Subianto has set November 20 as the deadline for completing the distribution, Hafid said, adding that meeting the target requires sufficient personnel, logistics, and reliable internet connectivity.

Following her inspection, she said post offices across Indonesia had been directed to serve 17–18 million families, with about 600,000 households already receiving aid since mid-October.

“I was informed that the remaining recipients will be covered in the next phase, and that both infrastructure and manpower are well prepared,” she said, praising the first phase’s accuracy and efficiency.

Hafid added that Pos Indonesia staff had been visiting recipients’ homes to deliver aid to those unable to travel, while also exploring digital solutions to speed up payments.

Acting President Director of Pos Indonesia Haris said the program could benefit around 140 million Indonesians, assuming an average of four people per family.

He said about 16 million families had already been regular BLT beneficiaries before the government decided to double the program’s coverage, and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to verifying data to ensure the aid reaches only eligible recipients.
