Ternate (ANTARA) - The North Maluku provincial government has pledged full support for President Prabowo Subianto’s push to digitalize education and improve learning quality across Indonesia.

As part of the initiative, the province has begun connecting remote schools to the Starlink satellite network to overcome internet black spots, said Abubakar Abdullah, head of the North Maluku Education and Culture Office, on Saturday.

“Using our 2025 regional budget, we have connected 89 schools to the Starlink network. Next year, more schools will be added through the 2026 budget,” Abdullah said.

He noted that several schools have already started using the internet to support digital learning, aligning with President Prabowo’s vision for a modern and accessible education system.

Abdullah said the digitalization drive fits the province’s archipelagic geography, where many schools are located on small, isolated islands.

“Through digitalization, we can reduce educational inequality and ensure that students in remote areas enjoy the same opportunities as those in cities,” he added.

The provincial government is also preparing to optimize the Rumah Pendidikan (Education House) portal, developed by the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry.

The platform provides teachers and students with digital materials designed to strengthen literacy and numeracy skills.

“Through Rumah Pendidikan, teachers and students can access a wide range of learning resources to improve educational outcomes,” Abdullah said.

He also expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s attention to North Maluku’s education development, saying that strong coordination between central and regional authorities would accelerate the sector’s digital transformation.
