Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 306 athletes from 18 sports disciplines began their national training camp on November 1 in preparation for the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, scheduled for January 20-26, 2026.

Of the 306 athletes, 291 from 17 sports are training in and around Solo City, while 15 ten-pin bowlers are based in North Jakarta. The program is supported by 95 coaches, 91 support staff, and 18 team managers.

“We hope all athletes can maximize their potential with just 2.5 months remaining. Our full focus is on achieving victory in Thailand,” Deputy Secretary-General of National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPC) Indonesia, Rima Ferdianto, said in an official statement received here on Sunday.

The preparation of all sports is directly supervised by Indonesia’s Chef de Mission (CdM) Reda Manthovani.

According to the statement, since Friday (November 7), he has inspected each training venue, especially at the Indonesian Paralympic Training Center (PPPI) in Delingan, Karanganyar, Solo, to observe athletes firsthand.

Addressing hundreds of athletes, Manthovani emphasized the importance of maintaining spirit ahead of Southeast Asia’s largest sports event for athletes with disabilities.

“Only 2.5 months remain. Though brief, I believe this time can be used optimally. Let's focus on achieving the best results for Indonesia and your families,” he said.

Manthovani noted that PPPI Delingan’s facilities are adequate.

“The cleanliness is good, facilities complete, beds comfortable, even with wireless charging. It feels like a hotel,” he said.

Meanwhile, para table tennis player Komet Akbar said the initial preparations are going well.

“Coaches have provided good programs, and we are monitored daily. Hopefully, the results will be optimal, and Indonesia can regain the overall champion title," Akbar stated.

The centralized training camp includes para athletics, para archery, para badminton, boccia, para chess, para cycling, CP football, goalball, para judo, para powerlifting, para shooting, sitting volleyball, para swimming, para table tennis, ten-pin bowling, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis, and wheelchair basketball.
