Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy and the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) are collaborating to strengthen the creative industry through enhanced cybersecurity, data protection, and the use of electronic signatures.

During a meeting with BSSN Head Nugroho Sulistyo Budi on Wednesday, Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the importance of the partnership in accelerating the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy.

"We find BSSN’s certification program to be excellent and highly relevant. Moving forward, we hope to collaborate on several initiatives to strengthen the capacity and data protection of creative industry players," he said, as cited from a statement on Thursday.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is currently working to reinforce the regulatory foundation for the intellectual property (IP)-based creative economy.

To that end, the ministry has coordinated with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to implement a regulation allowing intellectual property to serve as collateral for credit services.

The policy is expected to expand financing opportunities for creative economy players and attract more investment.

"We have issued a ministerial regulation on IP valuation services, providing a legal basis for the digital industry to use intangible assets such as creative content as collateral for loans or investments," the minister noted.

Harsya underlined that his ministry is seeking to ensure the digital industry has instruments that are legally and professionally recognized.

BSSN Head Budi affirmed that his agency will take follow-up action for the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that has been signed with the Ministry of Creative Economy.

"We are ready to follow up on the signed MoU, particularly regarding the use of electronic certificates and data protection. With the implementation of electronic certificates, the (budget) efficiency reaches Rp2 trillion (US$119.5 million) this year," he remarked.

Both parties also agreed to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity training and support innovation in cyber defense technology as part of efforts to strengthen the security of the national digital ecosystem.
