Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo said that culture must represent the nation’s identity, underscoring its strategic role in shaping Indonesia’s image on the global stage.

“As the President stated, culture should be the face of our nation and country,” Djumaryo said in a press statement here on Friday.

He noted that events such as the Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Awards not only celebrate musical achievements but also showcase Indonesia’s cultural richness and creative strength.

Djumaryo said the AMI Awards have become a highly anticipated moment for musicians and the wider music ecosystem. Each year, the event helps raise the standards of Indonesian music while adapting to changes within the industry.

“That is why we dedicate AMI not only to composers and singers but to everyone in the ecosystem. I also heard there is now a nomination for voice directors, which is remarkable. In today’s digital era, everyone has equal opportunities,” he said.

Chairperson of the Anugerah Musik Indonesia Foundation (YAMI) Candra Darusman emphasized the prestige of the AMI Awards, saying that recipients feel not only happiness but also pride and honor.

“At this year’s AMI Awards night, themed Bhinneka Tunggal Suara (Unity in Voice), let us celebrate and support the efforts and journeys of all musicians over the past year. Your achievements make us all proud,” Darusman said.

With full support from the Ministry of Culture, YAMI organizes the nation’s highest music appreciation event.

The 28th AMI Awards grand finale will present 63 award categories and 5 special recognitions in two sessions with 50 categories announced during the daytime session, and 13 categories plus 5 special awards delivered during the evening session, with trophies presented directly on stage.
