Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein reaffirmed their countries’ shared commitment to supporting Palestinian independence during a state dinner held at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday evening.

“Our relationship is deeply rooted in unwavering brotherhood and friendship, and in continued solidarity with the Palestinian people's struggle for independence,” President Prabowo stated, as quoted by the Presidential Media Team.

In his remarks, the president underscored that ties between Indonesia and Jordan extend beyond formal diplomacy, reflecting a bond of brotherhood that has endured for more than seven decades.

He emphasized that both nations remain united in moral and political solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

President Prabowo also reflected on his personal connection with the Hashemite Kingdom, recalling his longstanding friendship with King Abdullah II and the late King Hussein.

He shared a poignant memory of how Jordan welcomed him during a challenging period in his life some 25–26 years ago.

“I have a special emotional bond with the Hashemite Kingdom. At that time, I was facing one of the most difficult moments in my career, and it was then that I felt the warmth and companionship of His Majesty,” he said.

The President noted that this personal connection has helped strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Jordan, adding that the two countries are not merely partners, but have forged enduring ties of brotherhood and solidarity.

Looking ahead, President Prabowo expressed hope that Indonesia-Jordan relations will continue to flourish and contribute meaningfully to global peace, particularly through diplomatic support for Palestine.

“We wish prosperity for both nations. May our friendship continue to grow and endure,” he concluded.
