“We conducted inspections across seven to eight provinces to check the compliance. Thankfully, all are following President Prabowo’s instructions. Subsidized fertilizer prices have dropped 20 percent nationwide,” Sulaiman said here on Sunday.
He emphasized that the price reduction is a strategic move to strengthen farmer productivity, secure essential agricultural inputs, and support sustainable food self-sufficiency.
The minister noted that the lower prices have already stimulated demand, with fertilizer purchases rising 20 percent this month.
“This is a positive trend. It is expected to boost agricultural production. All subsidized food commodities will benefit from increased production,” he said.
The redemption process for fertilizer has also been simplified. Farmers now only need to bring their original ID cards for verification and photo documentation, eliminating the need for the previously required farmer cards.
He reiterated that the subsidy is targeted for smallholder farmers with a maximum of two hectares, ensuring fairness. Larger landholders are excluded to maintain subsidy equity.
“We have revoked licenses of distributors violating regulations in several provinces, including East Java, Central Java, West Java, South Sulawesi, Lampung, and North Sulawesi, with weekly evaluations ongoing,” he pointed out.
The price cuts apply to the main fertilizers like urea and Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium (NPK).
Urea has dropped from Rp2,250 to Rp1,800 per kg, reducing the price per 50-kilogram sack from Rp112,500 to Rp90,000.
NPK has fallen from Rp2,300 to Rp1,840 per kilogram, lowering the 50-kilogram sack price from Rp115,000 to Rp92,000, effective nationwide immediately.
