Bandung (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, emphasized the need to strengthen the country's science and technology ecosystem while inaugurating the 2025 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad (ONMIPA).

In his online remarks at Padjadjaran University (Unpad) in Bandung on Monday, he said students' achievements in the competition are expected to mark the start of their contribution to national science and technology development.

"I appreciate Unpad for hosting this event. This support strengthens Indonesia's science and technology talent ecosystem," he said.

He added that ONMIPA serves as a platform for character building and encourages students to think systematically and solve problems.

Mathematics and science, he noted, are "the languages of the future," and participating students will play a role in shaping Indonesia's future.

Yuliarto said the ministry is developing a more connected talent development network, from selection and coaching to research and industry collaboration.

"We want your achievements in ONMIPA to pave the way for a longer career path," he said, encouraging students to uphold integrity and continue learning.

ONMIPA 2025, themed "Through Inclusive ONMIPA, We Achieve Superior and Impactful Achievements," will run from November 16–20 and feature competitions in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

The annual event aims to improve academic abilities, foster creativity, and promote a healthy competitive culture, while attracting young innovators ready to contribute to national science and technology amid global challenges.
