This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya and representatives from Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) in Jakarta on Monday (17/11).
Riefky emphasized the strategic role of universities in preparing human resources for the growing creative job market.
“The rise in investment is automatically linked to the demand for workers. The impact is felt in the labor market and in exports,” he said.
His statement underscored that increasing investment must be matched by strong talent development.
This commitment was also supported by Cecep Rukendi, Deputy for Creative Economy Strategic Development.
He explained that the ministry has facilitated the establishment of the Creative Economy University Consortium, a collaborative platform to advance creative studies across campuses.
“This consortium provides a space for universities with similar goals to develop creative knowledge. It is now legally recognized and open to everyone,” he said.
During the same meeting, BINUS University Rector Nelly highlighted the university’s readiness to cultivate global professionals and entrepreneurs.
She noted that BINUS offers more than 100 study programs with a total of 50,000 active students.
“Our programs are designed to prepare students to become professionals or entrepreneurs,” she said.
She added that student entrepreneurship continues to grow, supported by various programs focused on creative business.
“Student entrepreneurship trends keep rising because we offer programs focused on creative business, including an annual exhibition and creative partnerships,” she said.
As part of its contribution to creative talent development, BINUS plans to host the Design Thinking and User Experience (DTUX) Summit 2025 on 27 November.
The event, themed “Advancing Humanity-Centered Innovation (HCD+) in Indonesia and Across Asia,” aims to expand the use of design thinking in public policy across ASEAN.
